A Three Year Anniversary Walk Down Memory Lane

It has now been three years since I began blogging about spirituality, consciousness, and what life lessons, themes and wisdom can be unearthed if we live in present time and examine the moments.

You know how there are certain moments which stand out clearly to you if you think back over this life’s experience?  Some will be the major incidents but what about the other ones?

There are days or snippets of experiences which will stand out in your memory banks for no apparent reason.

There will be items that you hold dear not because they are valuable or were particularly meaningful, but because they belonged to or were given to you by someone you love who may now be gone, either from your life or from the planet.

I have a silver basket my grandmother used for the hard candies with the squishy middles, a mug my Dad gave me twenty years ago that references computer bytes, and the silverware and a bowl we used when I was a kid.

I can remember with crystal clarity how I would take breaks from one of my insurance jobs and walk the path through the woods reading all about spirituality on Anna Sayce’s blog.  I believe this was the start to my awakening, spiritually speaking, because it seems I “just stumbled upon it” and I have no idea what led my there or what I might have been looking for when I found it.

Likewise there are individuals who do fantastic work in this field, and I can remember being introduced to their work and rejecting it, only to come back a few years later and have it be my favorite.

The other day I mentioned on my Facebook page that everyone should listen to a podcast of one of my favorite people. One of the commenters wrote,”Wow, dude is long-winded. Profanity gratuitous as well. JMHO.”  It made me remember that no one is for everyone.  I also felt this person was long-winded when I heard his podcasts several years ago, and it took me forever to consider listening to him again for that very reason.  When I came back to him, I was finally ready to hear the message.  Last year I listened to every single one of his podcasts -and trust me, that is a huge time commitment, probably 150 hours – and it was like getting a graduate degree in spirituality and having a personal guide to boot.

This is a year of major change.  We have been building up to it for some years now.  I suspect that many of us will be a bit shocked come December 31 when we look back on this year and see its place in the context of the last five years or so.

I’ve been reflecting on why I am here and what I hope to accomplish.  People have been asking when I expect to get back to readings.  Since I am back to work full-time, still contribute to my husband’s business part-time, and have two little kids and a plethora of pets, when someone asks,”When do you think you’ll be doing readings again?” it’s akin to saying,”When do you expect to be unemployed again?”  Umm…I have no idea.  When the universe calls me back to it?  Never?

I get a lot of requests for referrals to other intuitives for readings and most often I refer them to three people:

Lindsay of The Daily Awe

Lisa of Practically Intuitive

Angela of Powered By Intuition (especially for mediumship requests)

For recommendations on how to learn to be a professional intuitive?  Head straight to Slade at Automatic Intuition.

There are many friends in the blogging world who do not write about spirituality or intuition per se, but who for whatever reason I have been drawn to over the years like Jack, Lori, Vidya, Adrienne, Rob, Elle.  In that short list you can visit India, reflect on your most insightful moments, be challenged to dig deep, hang out in Houston and Boston, and be bewitched by good storytellers.

Whose blogs do you always visit?  Who are your favorite people?

Other than yours, I follow two blogs: Single Dad Laughing, by Dan Pearce, and 100 Days of Real Food by Lisa Leake. I get completely different things from those two; one helps me better nourish my heart and soul, and the other helps me better nourish my body.

  2. Julie, thanks for the shout-out! 🙂 I appreciate it, truly.

LOL on the long-windedness. And a knowing shake of the head on how it makes so much sense when you’re ready for it. (Also too: I like when he goes off on a profanity binge. He totally “keeps it real”, doesn’t he?)

We all walk our very own path in the way that only we can. But we all can help lessen someone’s burdens by walking together. I consider your words part of our “walking together”. Glad to be here with you!

    • Lisa, I refer people to you all of the time. Hopefully, they get there!

I never really notice the profanity when he goes on a tear! I just like the enthusiasm – very real.

  3. First things first: Happy Birthday, and Happy 3-Year Anniversary for this extraordinary site! I hope you know even an inkling of how much you have taught us, how much of an impact what you share of your knowledge and your life has helped us. I have learned and grown more since I first started following you than probably any other time in my life.
    Thank You for that.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed that you may not be doing readings indefinitely–or ever again (who knows what the future holds, really?), because for me personally, it opened up and changed my life. Among the many things I contemplate since getting the reading is “Why did I wait so long to do this?” That would take a long time to answer, but the main reason is, “I hadn’t found Julie yet.”
You have such a wonderful and incredible gift–actually, many gifts; I can’t rightfully say that Intuition encompasses all of it after it has been impressed upon me from your blog writing that you clearly shine in the areas of motherhood, being the perfect wife for your husband, caring for your furry family members, and in your career, to name a few. Considering all that, I’m more grateful that you are able to take the time to share a part of yourself with all of us, too.
So today, especially, is worthy of celebration in many ways. Every Best Wish to You, Julie!

    • Ayla, Thanks for the good wishes! I think everything happens in its own time. While I certainly hope that I won’t *need* do to the daily grind for the rest of my days, I’m not so sure readings were the right path for me, exactly. Nonetheless I know that right now I need to be doing what I am doing, and if something wonderful comes along tomorrow to change all that, that’s good, too 🙂

  4. I always feel so happy when I see your latest article in my inbox Julie. I hope you’re always called to share you bright spirit with the world, especially through your writing. Congratulations on your three years dear one, and thank you for the shout out. May you continue to flourish along the path that arises next.

  5. Hi Julie

Happy 3rd anniversary. I think a lot of us have changed from where we started. As our life changes we end up doing what needs to be done for ourselves and family. I have been up for 3 1/2 years and the purpose has become a personal transformation, which was not the intention when I began. If others get something from it then I have served a purpose.

We all have reasons for being here and definitely I agree when we are ready to hear something it will come to us. Yes, it shall be interesting to what we will see in our lives by the time 12-31 rolls around. Am so optimistic about the year. It shall be an adventure for the future.

    • Hi Mary, Thank you. There is nothing quite like writing to get it all out. I always learn from people’s comments. It’s especially interesting when they read something different than I intended! There is always more insight to glean.

Happy celebration year – it feels like that’s just the kind of year you are on track to have 🙂

  6. Happy anniversary, Julie! I enjoyed this post and was able to visit some of your articles which I’ve missed. Thanks for highlighting the favorites 🙂 Thank you for being a light of hope, guidance and inspiration to all of us.

As far as other spiritual blogs, I also read Melody Fletcher’s, Angela’s, Zeenat’s and my friend Melissa Tandoc’s, Graziedo, and Jodi Chapman’s blog among a few others.

Happy anniversary Julie! Other than your wonderful blog 🙂 I follow the lovely Joy Holland at Facets of Joy. And I started out at Anna Sayce’s blog as well – she helped me a lot with protection when I was quite unbalanced and vulnerable … and led me to you 🙂 Much love! And I hope you keep blogging even if readings remain off the menu 🙂 Than you Julie!!! Catriona xxx

  8. Hi Julie,
Wow 3 years! What an accomplishment, on top of everything else.you’ve got going on, I’m so glad you’re still going to be blogging (um, right??) I enjoy reading your posts. Are you speaking about Robert O? If so, a fave of mine too. I will go find the podcast you mention now.
    All the best and hugs,

    • Hi Robin! Yes I am sill blogging away as the mood strikes 🙂 I stopped doing readings last summer so it’s not news, just mentioning it in passing because lately quite a few people have popped along for a referral or asking when I would be doing readings again. When they group up like that it does perk ones ears up as to why that might be.

      Yes that’s the man!

  9. Dear Julie,
Wow! Three years already? Congratulations. Time sure does fly by. You’ve built an amazing site in that time. A real gem full of wonderful resources for people to refer back to again and again.

Thank you so much for including me in your post. I so appreciate the referrals and mentions.

It’s funny, but over the weekend I was thinking of emailing you to see if you could take a few of my referrals. I never got around to it! I’m now a certified life coach so I’m even busier than before.

I totally get it! You have to do what you have to do. I’m right there with you. I too work full time. I have always loved you and A Clear Sign. You’re an amazing writer! Keep the blog going by posting as often as possible without putting too much stress on yourself.

I don’t see you ever walking away from this work even if you stop taking reading requests for a while. I see this is like a gestation period where you will become even clearer about what your work is in the world. The world needs your voice.

If you ever need to talk – just let me know. I’m here for you.

    • Angela, I should have asked you about your time before I posted this! Still, I think of you every time someone wants mediumship, since you were so great with me and I can only recommend people I have personal experience with. I am so excited for you with life coaching! I do agree that we unfold and this past year has been a “do what you need to do” sort of time for me. I think the next phase for both of us will simply be different and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next 🙂

  10. Hi Julie,

Thank you for the shout out. Been one hell of a ride and I am glad I have been a part of it. Looking forward to see what comes next.

  11. Congratulations Julie and Happy anniversary. You have a great blog that can also be amusing at time (ie kids, husband, goat) I hope you keep it up and best wishes from this point forward.
As to who else’s blog I read besides if a title on a link in a comments section catches my interest, the only other one I read is Laura Warnke at Intuitive Journal. You were both the first that I started with when I one day was curious about something and I got Laura’s blog, and you commented on the topic, and I see a link at the bottom and I followed it and been here ever sense. By the way I know about the archive section read it plenty of times, and use it as a reference if I need it. Again congrats and peace, light, love and many blessing’s to you and yours!!
